International Entrepreneurship Summer School

Connect your ideas. Start up now!

The International Entrepreneurship Summer School (IESS) is an online seminar. It is designed to introduce you to High-Tech Entrepreneurship and start-up culture. You will learn skills, such as how to define a business idea and transforming it into a business model. During the summer school you will also have chance to learn how to create a start-up and run it successfully from international lecturers and entrepreneurs.

The main program of the International Entrepreneurship Summer School took place
from August 22 to 29 with a kick-off event on August 14.

Build your International Entrepreneurship Skills & Competencies

What to prepare. What to expect.

Before the school starts you will form multi-national teams of participants. The Entrepreneurship Hub will support you in this process. Each team will connect their business ideas, skills and experiences to design and detail a business model during the International Entrepreneurship Summer School. Thus, there is only one final business model per team. The Entrepreneurship Hub will provide you with digital tools and coaching to support you in this process. The International Entrepreneurship Summer School is free of charge, but the possible number of participants is limited. Therefore, an application is required.

The main program of the International Entrepreneurship Summer School takes place from August 22 to 29 with a kick-off event on August 14. In the week between the kick-off and the main program, you can watch some lecture videos on demand to improve your knowledge in various subjects such as online marketing or business management. During the main program we will have live lectures and you will work in teams on your business ideas. You will learn entrepreneurial and engineering-related skills. Afterwards, you have time to connect with your team to transfer your knowledge into your discussions regarding your business model. Our coaches will support you, whenever you have questions that concern your start-up ideas. On the last day of the International Entrepreneurship Summer School, you will pitch your business ideas in front of an international jury, yet the pitch is not part of your grading.

FAQs

Before International Entrepreneurship Summer School 2022

It is important to share your business idea with as many people as possible. They will ask questions, challenge your key assumptions and allow you to refine your ideas. Do not fear that your idea will be stolen as an idea is only as good as its implementation. In that regard, you will always be ahead of them. We highly recommend testing your prototype/MVP as soon as possible!

During the IESS you will need a webcam, microphone and a stable internet connection. Additionally, you should plan enough time to work on your business idea with your teammates. To support collaboration, we will provide an online meeting room, a Miro-board with Business Model and Value Proposition Canvas, as well as the assignment document containing all the information required to complete the tasks.

Changing your team during the summer school is not desired. However, in serious exceptions, you are requested to contact the co-host of your corresponding lecture track in order to accommodate possible changes.

During International Entrepreneurship Summer School 2022

Please ensure to attend as many lectures as possible. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can cause you to miss a lecture.

We believe an extensive network can prove to be a useful asset. Therefore, we will provide participants with the opportunity to interact and get to know one another during lunch breaks. Feel free to join!

We record all presentations. While the lecturer and his slides will be visible, it is also important to note that you will be visible when turning on your camera and be heard while speaking to the plenum. If you do not wish to be recorded, please ensure you keep your webcam and microphone turned off.

We provide some literature in the assignment document in our cloud. We also recommend searching for suitable sources by yourselves. For example:

    1. https://entrepreneurhandbook.co.uk/
    2. https://www.existenzgruender.de/EN/Publikationen/inhalt.html

Each team will receive a link they can use to upload their files to our cloud during the week. We will provide further information regarding submissions during IESS.

You can find all information regarding submission and the respective formatting in the assignment document. You are required to submit your Business Model Canvas exported from Miro and an executive summary not exceeding one page (one per team). Please also upload the slides of your pitch.

You can find all information regarding submission and the respective formatting in the assignment document. In addition to the submission requirements without grading, as mentioned above, you are required to submit a written description of your business model. Content and scope depend on the number of graded team members.

Completing the daily tasks is recommended as they further elaborate on the contents you may need to define your business model, deliver a convincing pitch and be able to answer possible follow-up questions. However, they are not obligatory and are not required to obtain the certificate of completion and credits.

If completed successfully, you will receive a digital certificate of participation sent to your email address shortly after the end of IESS22.
