Build your International Entrepreneurship Skills & Competencies

What to prepare. What to expect.

The ideas:
The IESS is open to dedicated future Entrepreneurs. You are invited to bring your own business idea to the program. If you do not already have an idea of your own, you are  welcome to join a team around an existing idea. The Entrepreneurship Hub will also present selected cutting edge technologies that have recently been developed at TU Braunschweig as possible business ideas for you to work on.

The teams:
Following the kick-off event on August 27th you will form hybrid or fully virtual teams of international participants. The Entrepreneurship Hub will support you in this process.
Each team will work on one business idea and combine their skills and experiences to design a detailed business model, which they will then present in a final pitch event at the end of the IESS.

The process:
The main program of the IESS takes place from 4th to 8th September with a kick-off event on August 27th.

In the week between the kick-off and the main program, you can watch a selection of lecture videos on demand to improve your knowledge in various entrepreneurship-related subjects such as online marketing or business management.

The main program will feature live lectures and best practice discussions with entrepreneurs. You will learn key entrepreneurial skills and work on your chosen  business idea with your team. The Entrepreneurship Hub will provide digital tools and coaching to support you in this process. On the last day of the IESS, you will pitch your business idea in front of an international jury.

The resources:

The IESS is free of charge. The number of participants is limited. Therefore, an application is required.

The program does require effort, dedication and time. While the Summer School takes place fully online, you will need to be present for live lectures as well as team work and coaching sessions at set times. Please make sure that you can arrange for time off work and other responsibilities from the 4th to the 8th of September (9:30 a.m. to appr. 4:30 p.m. CEST) as well as the kick-off event on the 27th of August 2023.

You will also need a stable internet connection, a functioning microphone and a webcam. A quiet and suitable working environment is also recommended. The Entrepreneurship Hub will provide digital tools for online collaboration and room for face-to-face coworking for those participating from Braunschweig.

Before International Entrepreneurship Summer School 2023

It is important to share your business idea with as many people as possible. They will ask questions, challenge your key assumptions and allow you to refine your ideas. Do not fear that your idea will be stolen as an idea is only as good as its implementation. In that regard, you will always be ahead of them. We highly recommend testing your prototype/MVP as soon as possible!

During the IESS you will need a webcam, microphone and a stable internet connection. Additionally, you should plan enough time to work on your business idea with your teammates. To support collaboration, we will provide an online meeting room, a Miro-board with Business Model and Value Proposition Canvas, as well as the assignment document containing all the information required to complete the tasks.

Changing your team during the summer school is not desired. However, in serious exceptions, you are requested to contact the co-host of your corresponding lecture track in order to accommodate possible changes.

During International Entrepreneurship Summer School 2023

Please ensure to attend as many lectures as possible. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can cause you to miss a lecture.

We believe an extensive network can prove to be a useful asset. Therefore, we will provide participants with the opportunity to interact and get to know one another during lunch breaks. Feel free to join!

We record all presentations. While the lecturer and his slides will be visible, it is also important to note that you will be visible when turning on your camera and be heard while speaking to the plenum. If you do not wish to be recorded, please ensure you keep your webcam and microphone turned off.

We provide some literature in the assignment document in our cloud. We also recommend searching for suitable sources by yourselves. For example:

Each team will receive a link they can use to upload their files to our cloud during the week. We will provide further information regarding submissions during IESS.

You can find all information regarding submission and the respective formatting in the assignment document. You are required to submit your Business Model Canvas exported from Miro and an executive summary not exceeding one page (one per team). Please also upload the slides of your pitch.

You can find all information regarding submission and the respective formatting in the assignment document. In addition to the submission requirements without grading, as mentioned above, you are required to submit a written description of your business model. Content and scope depend on the number of graded team members.

Completing the daily tasks is recommended as they further elaborate on the contents you may need to define your business model, deliver a convincing pitch and be able to answer possible follow-up questions. However, they are not obligatory and are not required to obtain the certificate of completion and credits.

If completed successfully, you will receive a digital certificate of participation sent to your email address shortly after the end of IESS22.

After International Entrepreneurship Summer School 2023

You and your team are invited to join our online incubation program after successfully completing IESS2021. By doing so, you will receive further support such as coaching, networking events and webinars on entrepreneurship topics.
