MacGyver Entrepreneurship

     Overview

Awaken the MacGyver in you!

MacGyver Entrepreneurship combines the practice of tinkering with the idea of entrepreneurship. The aim is to foster students’ creativity and enable them to develop new ideas and solutions as a team. Following the motto “Awaken the MacGyver in you”, the students are asked to develop the e-scooter provided to them further over the course of the semester with the help of limited resources. During the semester, students will be offered basic workshops on various manufacturing processes for prototypes from the Protohaus. In addition, there will be two lecture sessions, which will include lectures on prototype and business model development, as well as a period for feedback and questions. The developed prototype will be presented to a panel of experts during the final event. In addition, the teams are to create a 3-minute pitch video. The best idea will be publicly awarded.

Core Task

Develop a prototype as a further advancement of the e-scooter provided by Moovi.

Task Description

Start by examining the Moovi e-scooter (e.g. driving experience, technical specifications). Then identify several socio-economic problems from which you will develop technical optimization proposals, taking into account entrepreneurship approaches and socio-economic aspects, and implement them in the form of a prototype. The basic requirement is that the implemented idea is innovative and serves a specific customer demand.

The subtasks are::

  •
  • Identification of problems
  •
  • Elaboration of approaches to solutions
  • Development of a prototype
  • Development of a concept for market-based implementation

The teams have the following resources at their disposal:

  •
  • An e-scooter from Moovi
  • Material resources are provided by the Entrepreneurship Hub
  • Own materials (reimbursement of costs is not possible)
  • The infrastructure of the Protohaus
  • Knowledge (Entrepreneurship Hub + external coach).

The jury will pay attention to the following criteria, among others:

  • Added value
  • Technical implementation possibility
  • Market economy implementation possibility
  • Degree of innovation
  • Inventiveness
