MBA Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management

     Overview

Fit for the future – the perfect MBA to foster entrepreneurial mindset

The Master of Business Administration program with a specialization in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management was launched in 2013 as a logical consequence of the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences’ participation in the German government’s excellence competition “EXIST IV – Die Gründerhochschule” and the long-standing and successful commitment of Professor Dr. Asghari and his team. In the past years, numerous students of the MBA program could already be supported in the acquisition and development of an entrepreneurial mindset. They have benefited from the subject-specific knowledge and skills taught during their studies, special projects and coaching. Either as intrapreneurs in the context of an employment relationship in the company or entrepreneurs who founded their own companies before, during or after graduation.
Students come from a wide variety of industries and fields – engineers and economists are just as welcome as psychologists, computer scientists or humanities scholars. What counts much more than the technical background in the MBA Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management is the pursuit of personal development as well as an entrepreneurial mindset, which should bring forth new and innovative ideas and concepts.

Study while working and learn from the very best

Our MBA is aimed specifically at interested parties who are firmly integrated into professional life. Therefore, lectures take place on Friday afternoons as well as Saturdays. The courses are taught by top-class experts in their respective fields who have extensive experience in business and entrepreneurship. This ensures that there is always direct relation to the business world and that students can implement and apply the knowledge they have acquired directly in situations that are relevant to them.

Intrapreneure – Employees as Entrepreneurs

More and more companies in Germany are attaching importance to the qualified advancement of their skilled employees. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management degree program is structured in such a way that it also appeals to employees of all company sizes who would like to develop themselves further or who are to be qualified for higher positions by the companies and institutions. Within the framework of the MBA program, these employees are trained to become intrapreneurs, i.e. employees who demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking and virtues within the company in order to help the respective company achieve sustainable success. An innovation-promoting corporate culture as well as structures, higher cost awareness, understanding of interrelationships and increasing personal initiative are just some of the examples of how companies can benefit from sending their employees to our MBA program.

Many of our students are actively supported by their employers, be it through financial participation in the study costs or the transfer of projects that the students work out during their studies.

Innovation – Success through Innovation

Companies are facing rising competitive pressure. The drivers for this change include globalization and the associated increase in the number of competitors on the market, as well as continuously shortening product life cycles. In order to be as successful as possible in the future, companies are increasingly dependent on creating new innovative products and services and offering them to the market.

The MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management not only teaches students the economic importance of innovation in a global context, but also provides them with the necessary tools to support them in creating innovations. They are empowered to initiate and accelerate the process of “creative destruction” either in their own company or in the role of intrapreneur in the companies of their employers.

Master of Business Administration in 24 months

The MBA program Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management is designed to last two years. Students complete four of the five compulsory modules in the first three semesters while the last semester is dedicated to the completion of the master’s thesis and the final colloquium.

We understand the individual backgrounds and circumstances of our students, many of whom are working full-time, and we do not intend for anyone to be forced to choose between studying and working. Therefore, an individual customization of the duration of studies is also possible.

Wolfenbüttel, Braunschweig, Berlin and Silicon Valley

The majority of the presence appointments take place on the Wolfenbüttel campus of the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. However, some sessions, such as the organized excursions, also take place on-site at companies in the region, in Braunschweig, in Berlin (e.g. Entrepreneurship Summit) or in Silicon Valley. The joint excursion to the heart of the digital world is a notable highlight of this course of study.

     Students & Alumni Reviews

The course content gave me the confidenceto start my own business and so far I don't regret it in the slightest. It's amazing how much of what you learn you can actually apply in practice.

The studies helped me to look at my role as an employee in the company from a completely new perspective. Because of the skills I learned, I was able to not only question myself, but also restructure and motivate my entire department, helping it to become more efficient.

Without the study program, I would not be where I am today with my company.
